Built in the 1980s by the government to house the Inland Revenue and Tax office in the centre of Gainsborough.
The council moved out of the offices and the building was used by the job centre, after the jobcentre became transitioned into an online format the offices were made empty and sold for future development. UDCS Demolition was contracted to demolish the former Crown House building to make way for the development of shopping units.
The contract included asbestos removal, soft-stripping back to shell, demolition and removal of foundations. The project was carried out in the centre of a busy market town. The site, which main access was located on a narrow road which was the main delivery path for several departments stores and a residential area directly opposite. The works were carried out without disruption to residents or the ongoing operations of the department stores thanks to careful planning and logistics control.
